Classic : Tunnel and Pinehurst

Tunnel Road. Pinehurst. Redwood Road. These are the roads that introduced me to riding in the East Bay. They’re both thoroughfares – the main arteries through which a constant flow of cyclists passes – and roads worth getting to know in their own right. Even after close to 500 ascents of Tunnel I’m often surprised by what it has to offer.

While exploring and seeking out new ways to get between places keeps us excited and eager to get back on the bike, this is a ride that reminds us of our roots. In our minds, and in the minds of many local cyclists, it’s a true Classic.

There are many ways to get up to Tunnel Road, and many ways to get back from Joaquin Miller Park, but this combination of Tunnel/Pinehurst/Redwood is a trifecta that stands the test of time. Whether you’re new to cycling or a sunburned veteran, we encourage you to get out and enjoy this route.
