Classic: Alpine Dam + Seven Sisters
The Marin Series, Vol 2 of 3.
Many great routes are like tried-and-true recipes. They offer a lot on their own, but they’re also a foundation to build on and tinker with. This Alpine Dam + Seven Sisters loop is exactly that.
While this route offers up enough stunning scenery to satiate most appetites, you might also want to spice it up with the climb to East Peak, or stretch it out by heading down into Stinson Beach. If you want to add some texture, take your skinny tires up the gravel Old Stage Rd to West Point Inn for a view of Marin that will take your breath away (fog notwithstanding).
A couple things to note: 1) our route takes a quiet, woody detour around bustling downtown Fairfax, but if you’re needing food or water this will be your last opportunity to refuel for quite a while. 2) Bolinas Fairfax Road was closed to cars when we filmed this. Because it was car free, you may notice us dance on the center line on some descents. We do not recommend this when the road is open!
